Learn to Play
So you have all of your gear, great! Now you want to start using it to play hockey! But where to start?
Many rinks around the Seattle area do Adult Learn To Play sessions. Seattle Women’s Hockey Club does *not* require participants to have done a learn to play. This is just an optional resource if you’d like to improve your skills!

Skills Clinics
These will pop up all over the general Seattle area. KCI for example runs an adult skills clinic that teaches a wide variety of skills beyond what you might learn in a learn to play. These run year-long and are pro rated depending on number of sessions remaining in the current series.
Calendar – Kraken Community Iceplex – Contains times for both Public Skate, Drop In Hockey and Stick & Puck

Hockey Etiquette
For Games, Stick & Pucks, etc.
Be Kind To Goalies
Do not shoot at the goalie when they are not looking!! If a goalie is in net during warmups or stick and puck, do not shoot unless they are looking at you. They do not have pads on the back and you can hurt them.
Zamboni Etiquette
- Close the bench doors when you get off/before zam comes on.
- Remove all pucks and waterbottles from the edge of the boards before the zam goes by. If these items get knocked down, they can get caught in the auger and kill the zam.
- Get off the ice quickly after your game. You can chat in the locker room or off the ice. if you’re taking a picture, make it quick and respect the driver’s time/schedule. We only have 10 minute cuts between games and if it’s the last game, they also want to be done and go home.
